Dirty Holly: Raw, Gritty, and Unapologetic
Hailing from the graffiti covered basement walls, burgeoning grassrooots punk scene and the gritty dive bars of Atlanta, DIRTY HOLLY is a fierce trio that refuses to be confined by conventional norms. With their own brand of garage rock with an old school vibe of The Ramones, Black Sabbath and AC/DC soaked in retro horror, melancholic doo wop, sci-fi spacey psychedelia, backwater surf and dirty jeans skate punk, they've carved out a niche all their own in the local music scene. Fronted by the electrifying vocals and unrelenting in-your-face bass lines of Amy Epperley and the frenetic riffs with searing guitar solos of Julie Tew, the band delivers a sonic assault that hits like a punch to the gut. Backed by the thunderous rhythm section of drummer Jen Hodges, Dirty Holly's sound is relentless, driving, and undeniably present.
Drawing inspiration from the raw intensity of bands like L7, Alice Cooper and The Runaways, Dirty Holly's music is a visceral experience that demands attention. Bringing listeners into their untamed wild world with vocals that go from gritty and aggresssive to melodic and rapturous, their lyrics delve into the deepest corners, exploring themes of rebellion, desire, self-discovery… often going from vulnerability to rage with a fearless openess and honesty. Dirty Holly's rambunctious 2022 debut single 'Give Em Hell' is a rallying cry against conformity and complacency, urging listeners to embrace their inner fire and stand tall in the face of adversity. "When we were deciding which song to put out first, ‘Give Em Hell’ was an easy all around instant first choice for us. We knew we wanted to come out with our big guns blazing and a dumpster fire full of attitude but we also had something important to say too" Amy says. "It's about something we all go through, growing pains and what do we do when backed up against the wall. It's a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart right from the start” Julie adds. The high-octane anthem quickly gained wider attention outside the local scene and led to them to recording their upcoming full length debut album Play Dirty with the first single track set to be released in May 2024.
